Saturday, January 24

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the formalization of permanent restrictions for helicopters and powered-lift operating near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Nearly a year after the deadly collision between an Army helicopter and a commercial jet about to land at DCA, Secretary Duffy said, “After that horrific night in January, this Administration made a promise to do whatever it takes to secure the skies over our nation’s capital and ensure such a tragedy would never happen again.“

The secretary continued, “The safety of the American people will always be our top priority. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the [National Transportation Safety Board] on any additional actions.”

The restriction is still open for public comment before the agency issues its final rule.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Duffy to be led by the Lord as he oversees the Transportation Department and institutes upgrades in airspace security.
  • For FAA Administrator Bedford and NTSB Chair Homendy as they implement improvements in air transportation.
  • For discernment for the president and members of his Cabinet as they execute policies to enhance national security and public safety.
